I'm not sure I have a good answer to this question other than I have found no other way to accomplish this goal. I know there are a lot of generous people out there and hope they also believe I can reach this goal. I will be forever thankful to anyone who donates and/or shares the campaign link. I have worked and saved for over 30 years (started full time before I graduated college) and have had what I would consider a successful life. I have dreamed about traveling the world and diving as long as I can remember. I watched the Jacques Cousteau's shows as a kid and have been mesmerized by the underwater world ever since. Once I started diving and traveled to some remote locations, I've been looking for a way to spend my retirement in those locations. When I came across Silent-Yachts a few years ago, I haven't been able to think of anything else. These boats are as self sustainable as I've found. Without the costs of diesel engine maintenance nor sail/rigging, the ongoing maintenance is considerably less. Granted these boats will generally only travel at slow sailing speeds - but with the backup generator can move faster if that is needed (In retirement, it should not be needed often). Although my goal is a tropical livestyle, if the boat is capable, I also hope to cross the Northwest passage one summer. Eventually, I would hope to cross into the pacific and visit Polynesia, New Zealand, and Australia. Eventually, going further to visit the Maldives and eventually circumnavigating to make it back to the bahamas.
